From Gail & Michael:
Finally the Olympic torch has arrived in London this week
and today it has reach to the central of London. In less than 24 hours the
Olympic Game opening ceremony will begin.
Early in this week, London is unusually quiet, is not like
what we expected but we can see Olympic 2012 banner in everywhere. Every day
when we arrive in Green Park station we can hear the reminder asking the local
workers try to avoid travelling to Green Park to work, because it will be
extremely busy even during weekend.
While everyone is feeling the Olympic buzz in the air and as
we mentioned in the beginning, the Olympic game will be started officially in
less than 1 day, it is important to remember that such a big event has put
London in a higher risk of being attack due to there are many attention on
London recently and presidents and prime minster of different countries will be
gathering in London to support their home countries’ athletes and join the
opening ceremony. To make sure that The Olympic Game can run smoothly, security
and safety have played a significant part during the whole game period.
Security measures are being taken everywhere, especially in tube station and
the Olympic venues. Further more for Dukes more preparations have been done in
this week especially regarding on the security and safety issue so that we can
provide a pleasant stay for our guests. Due to Dukes London is near one of the Olympic
venues – The Mall, in the morning there will be a policeman with a sniffer dog
to walk through the entire hotel, it happens in other hotels also, it is to
ensure the surrounding area near the Olympic venues are safe as well. Moreover,
this week we have a fire drill for staffs and received a staff training
regarding on the emergency incident such as fire, bomb threat, floods etc. The
security training is compulsory for every staffs no matter you are a trainee or
senior staff. In the training, we have received important information such as
what is our role and responsibility and how should we response to the emergency
incident. After the security training we
are more prepared to welcome the coming of the Olympic Game. Even though we
have received pressure and tense from the Olympic Game however as the slogan of
the London Olympic 2012 said it is once in a lifetime. In Dukes London, we also
said that ‘Let’s work together and have fun with it.’ We work hard for the Olympic period but we are
enjoying it at the same time.
London is ready now and we are ready as well!
