Today was a very special day for
the HTMi Olympic Team in London. One Aldwych Hotel London, A Leading Hotel of
the World…the name that stands for quality, high standard, exceptional service,
the place where staff do not wear the nametags as the vision of this particular
hotel in the heart of London is following: “a luxury service, is the service
that you do not see…you feel” And today, the team went for a visit of this
wonderful property.
We had the pleasure of meeting
and interviewing Mr. Stefan Soennichsen, General Manager of this fine property.
Mr. Soennichsen is a most dynamic and energetic gentleman and you feel you are
in the presence of a kind person and a great leader.
Mr. Soennichsen welcomes HTMi
warmly into his property and during the forty-minute interview we had the
opportunity to talk about many interesting topics. The road in front of the
hotel is an official Olympic Lane, which may only be used by athletes, Olympic
officials, and visiting dignitaries. During the interview Mr. Soennichsen spoke
about the challenges the hotel is faced with in the run up and during the
games. We also spoke about the virtues and qualities needed to be a General
Manager, the career path and experience such a position demands. Mr.
Soennichsen was referenced by a former colleague as one of the three greatest
leaders he has ever worked for. I had the chance to ask Mr. Soennichsen about
his leadership style and what makes a great leader. Mr. Soennichsen also gives
very valuable advice to students and graduates entering the hospitality and
tourism industry.
After the interview, Mr.
Soennichsen invited the Olympic Team to a complimentary Afternoon Tea in the
hotel lobby. This was a great treat and presented the opportunity for the
students to experience first-hand and feel the service of the highest standards
of one the leading hotels in the world.

During our afternoon tea, we were
further welcomed by Mr. Christophe Hilty, Director of Operations, a goof friend
and supporter of HTMi. It was indeed and incredible experience as guests at One
Aldwych, and if we were to describe it in words it would something like:
“Professional, luxurious,
quality, style – it is all One Aldwych… it as all five-star hospitality,
something that all of us need to strive for”, The HTMi Olympic Team
