Another world sporting event with HTMi Hotel School,
this time on the doorsteps of the HTMi campus in Sorenberg, the Tour De Suisse
cycling race.
On Sunday, 17th June 2012 the final
stage of the Tour de Suisse will commence in Nafels and the final one kilometre
finishing line will be placed outside the staircase of the HTMi Hotel School Campus
building.
The Tour de Suisse is the largest cycling race in
Switzerland and the 4th biggest cycling race in the world. The last stage will
be 215.8km and the cyclists will actually pass by HTMi Hotel School in Sorenberg
two times. The first time will only be a transit before the race will come to
an end reaching Sorenberg again 2 hours later on the 17th of June 2012.
HTMi is one of the Tour De Suisse sponsors and will
be supporting this sporting event in many ways. The festivities begin at HTMi
in Sorenberg on Friday, 15th June. On the evenings of the 15th
and 16th June two banquets for over 900 persons will take place and teams
of HTMi students will be working in the food & beverage operations at these
two banquets.
Then on Sunday, 17th June the terrace of
the HTMi Hotel School Campus building will be transformed into in an exhibition
by the UNESCO Biosphere. The theme of the exibition is “Echt Entlebuch” or
“Real Entlebeuch”, where thousands of visitors from Switzerland and around the
world will have the opportunity of tasting and buying Swiss produce 100%
locally produced in the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch.
Mr. Anthony Lack, Training & Events Manager at
HTMi says: “We were approached by the Tour De Suisse organizing committee a few
months back and asked to support this important event for the help of our
excellent students, during the event and to also sponsor the event by contributing
parts of our campus and allowing the final kilometre line to be place at the
main entrance to HTMi. HTMi is happy to support and sponsor this major event,
which is also a wonderful draw of local and foreign tourists and an important contributor
to the tourism of this UNESCO biosphere region in Switzerland.
This is another great opportunity for our students to
show what they have learned and an excellent possibility to see how a world
sporting event is staged.”
