HTMi has a very high focus on preparing all students to organise and run hotel events. The Gala Dinner prepares students to plan and organise hotel banqueting events, a very large part of a hotel revenue. This is the highlight news from the excellent Gala event held on 4th May 2012, called the “Masquerade Ball” .....
HTMi’s Events and Training Manager Anthony Lack, : “Once again the students hosted yet another excellent and successful International Gala Event on Friday, 4th May 2012. The theme of this semester’s Gala Event was “Masquerade Ball”. Befitting an exquisite ball, the guests were treated to an elegant aperitif on arrival. Following this the guests entered the restaurant decorated like a Masquerade adorned with masks, feathers and tables named after famous operettas. The guests were then treated to a five course gastronomic menu created by HTMi’s Head Chef Andreas Kurfürst and his culinary team. The crème de resistance of the menu was the dessert buffet, which was equal to that found in any five-star luxury property in the world. This was all accompanied by powerful and enjoyable entertainment. The highlight of the entertainment was two students David from Vietnam and Euodia from Malaysia singing the song “The Prayer” with magnificent operatic voices in Italian and English.
Numerous dignitaries from embassies and consulates in Switzerland attended the event. To quote the head of the consular section of the South African Embassy who said “Another perfect evening, fun, well organised with great choice of music”. Mr. Florian Claudiu, Deputy Ambassador of the Romanian Embassy stated “A special evening in a special and natural atmosphere. One of the best examples of harmonious multi-culturality”. Dr. John Burgess, Academic Advisor to HTMi stated, “my first experience of an International Night – it has exceeded all expectations”.
On the night, the students raised funds for the “Save the Children Foundation” by selling tickets for a Tombola. Great prizes were up for grabs from overnight stays in luxury hotels in Zürich to other very exciting prizes. HTMi would like to thank all its sponsors for supporting the night great prizes.
With the long experience of running such events, each time we strive to make it even better than the last one, and this is what the International Hospitality Industry needs from our graduates to be ready to take part in the many hotel events which are such large part of annual hotel revenue. Of course the WOW factor designed by our excellent students and enjoyed by more than 40 nationalities of guests is the ingredient that just happens on the night, and that nobody can forget “.
HTMi runs a Postgraduate Diploma in Events Management, and has the most innovative and intensive Events experience of any hotel school worldwide. The HTMi Focus is on Hotel Events.
