| Prof Joe Goldblatt Award for Excellence in Events Management Leadership |
Prof. Joe Goldblatt advised HTMi on the launch and development of the Centre for Events Management Training in HTMi. To honour Prof. Goldblatt and to encourage excellence in events management, the Centre’s Manager, Mr Anthony Lack established an award the “Dr Joe Goldblatt Award for Excellence in Event Leadership”. At the Marriott Zurich on Friday, 11th June 2010, Prof Goldblatt presented the award to two students: Ms. Narumon Nilanon from Thailand and Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Hoa from Vitenam ( pictured with Prof Joe Goldblatt, left, and Mr Anthony Lack, right), who both showed unprecedented attitude, skills and excellence towards organizing and leading students in preparation of many of the events at HTMi, and positively influenced other students with their enthusiasm.

Prof. Dr. Joe Goldblatt, CSEP is the Executive Director of the International Centre for the Study of Planned Events and is a Lecturer in the Tourism, Hospitality and Events Group at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, Scotland. Prior to this position, he was senior lecturer at Temple University’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management and he also served as executive director for professional development and strategic partnerships for the School. He is the founding president of the International Special Events Society and the developer of the original Certified Special Events Professional program. Prior to joining Temple University he served as Dean of the graduate school at Johnson & Wales University and he created the first Master’s Degree and professional certificate programs in the field of event management at The George Washington University. He is the author, co-author or editor of 19 books and hundreds of scholarly and trade publication articles. He has lectured on five continents in over 50 countries and produced hundreds of events for luminaries including two U.S. presidents, the opening of the Donald Trump Taj Mahal Resort. Goldblatt received the first ever Lifetime Achievement Award for service to the industry from ISES. Event Solutions Magazine awarded him the Industry Visionary Award for his contributions to event management education and research. He was among the first individuals inducted into the Events Industry Hall of Fame. He received the highest award from the Creative Marketing Laboratory of Russia, when he was presented with the prestigious silver medal for lifetime career achievements.

In 2005, he was awarded the Silver Medal from the Creative Marketing Laboratory of Russia for lifetime career achievements. In 2007 Dr. Goldblatt was named Event Educator of the Year by the Professional Convention Management Association and in 2008 he was honoured as the Distinguished Alumnus from his alma mater, St. Edward’s University. In September 2008 Dr. Goldblatt was the first educator to be inducted into the International Festivals and Events Association Hall of Fame.
