Celebrating Spring in Beautiful Soerenberg, Switzerland
Finally Spring has arrived to reveal the breathtaking beauty of Switzerland’s most beautiful resort, Soerenberg. To celebrate this the students of HTMi took a short break from study and training to organise two events on the same evening. To start the celebrations, students at HTMi from many different nationalities organised a UK Culture Evening (different culture evenings organised by students from around the world,happen nearly every week at HTMi). Students and staff enjoyed a feast of British favourite dishes like Toffee Sponge Pudding, and Scottish Red Lentil soup, and received a presentation from Mr Mike Goodwin about life, present and past in the United Kingdom. Then first year Certificate level students from more than 25 nationalities, with the support of the Centre for Events Management Training, organised one of the Institute’s largest events of the Semester, “Who Want’s To be a Superstar, Celebrity Competition Event”. This competition organisation gives our first year students the chance to plan and hold all aspects of an event which is part of HTMi’s preparation for students to work in the international hotel and tourism industry. On 17th April 2010 many talented young people from around the world demonstrated different musical and magical talents to be voted HTMi Superstar Spring 2010. During more than 12 finalist performances, the quality level was very high and finally the winner was Som from Thailand performing; “Everytime We Touch” by Cascada. Congratulations to Som and to all of those who took part and to all Certificate Level students who organised the event.
A now famous act received yet another standing ovation , first played at the Dolder Grand Hotel, Zurich in June 2009, by Kevin from Hong Kong and can be seen playing his electric guitar on YouTube at this link.
